About Tom

My wife and I reside in Northern California. When not writing I stay busy with five children and five grandchildren who are spread out across the US. I like to swim, hike, garden, fix things, and get in a little golf from time to time.

How did I become an author? It's a convoluted story, but here goes.. During my Junior year, public school administrators decided it was best for everyone if I didn't attend regular high school. They had their reasons. The only option available was to attend an Individualized Study Center. The Center decided to test my aptitude. Teachers who work in these institutions are nothing if not optimistic. I'm guessing they hoped to discover something useful to society. Perhaps a hidden talent. They ended up giving me two completely different tests. Likely because they didn't believe the first one. Both tests suggest the number one option for me was to be an author. At the time I reasoned this was clear proof these sorts of things are a sham.

I eventually graduated high school and spent a decade wandering aimlessly. I worked a long list of jobs. These included lifeguard, janitor, security guard, grill cook, painter, greenhouse worker, midnight shift convenience store clerk, residential liqueur delivery driver, waiter, too many factory/warehouse jobs to list, day laborer when immediate cash was required, and maker of handmade deer skin cowboy hats. These custom hats were sold by traveling around California to county fairs, chili cookoff's, and other events where people tend to drink too much and make impulsive buying decisions. I was exposed to a lot of interesting situations and unique people during this period of my life. I've worked with angels, devils, and the certifiable. All of which is great story fodder.

One morning I woke up on a beach in San Diego and decided to make some changes. A significant alteration in behavior resulted in a degree in mechanical engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. This was followed by a career in the electronic test and measurement industry. My job in that industry involved regular international travel over the span of three decades. I was exposed to a wide variety of people and cultures which taught me to respect and honor differences in beliefs and lifestyles. It taught me to listen. Once again, I worked with angels, devils, and the certifiable. People are just people after all.

Many of the challenges I faced early in life were from persistent daydreaming. I made up stories and told them to myself. I finally decided to write one of them down. My first attempt at writing is the Revelation Trilogy. I am working on two other stories from the same universe.  Have never enjoyed  anything more.

I hope you read and enjoy my stories. Alternatively, you may decide aptitude tests are a sham after all.
